Southern Medical University, formerly the First Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, is a key provincial university under the "211 Project" of Guangdong Province, directly under the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, and jointly constructed by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, the National Health and Family Planning Commission, and the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, selected into the Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program, a first-level garden-style college in Guangdong Province.
