Lugu Lake is located at the junction of Yanyuan County, Sichuan Province and Ninglang County, Yunnan Province, and is under the joint jurisdiction of Sichuan and Yunnan.To the east of the lake is Luguhu Town (formerly Zuosuo District) of Yanyuan County, and to the west of the lake is Yongning Township of Ninglang County.The Mosuo people of the Naxi ethnic group who live by the Lugu Lake have unique marriages and unique customs. The heads of the families are all women, and the blood lines of their family members are all matrilineal.
